Native to West Africa, this plant is also commonly called "Guinea pepper". The small berries of this spice initially have a resinous flavor on the palate which immediately gives way to a spicy flavor with notes of cardamom. It is commonly used to season white fish, tartare, tasty meats such as lamb and vegetarian dishes.
